Just because it’s been a while since we have put Beyoncé on the blog.

Tom Sachs - ‘Space Program: Mars’
New York sculptor and space-enthusiast, Tom Sachs has a thing for NASA’s Space Shuttle program. So much of a thing that he will fill the Park Avenue Armory with Phase 2 of his own life-size space program, featuring over 50 dynamic crafted sculptures. The centerpiece of Space Program is a huge lunar module complete with a toolkit, soundtrack necessary for survival on an alien planet and a booze cabinet so that visitors can have a complete and awesome experience. Sachs has managed to get some well-known brands, such as Nike, working for him to produce lab coats and space boots to make the experience even more real. Plus, the experience begins with a liftoff to Mars. But wait… The Tom Sachs NIKECraft collection will be sold in an adjoining pop-up installation as well. Fresh. This exhibit is a MUST visit! I mean, who doesn’t want to know what it’s like to travel to space? Hope they are seving space ice cream! Visit Tom Sachs’ site for more info.
Happy Birthday Bob Dylan! We will forever love your poetic style folksy blues.
“All I can do is be me, whoever that is.”
Did anyone else know Courtney Love was an artist? Neither did we. Love’s debut art show, titled And She’s Not Even Pretty, opened up on May 3rd at the Fred Torres Collaborations Gallery in New York and features 45 pieces of work. The exhibit is comprised of colored pencil, pastel and watercolor drawings depicting doll-like women in vulnerable mental states, surrounded by poetry and lyrics. The centerpiece of the exhibit is a John Galliano wedding dress embroidered with explicit words and stained with lipstick. Love admits that a large portion of her collection is about one romance in particular, straying away from giving specific deets (we think we can figure that one out). It will be very interesting to see another side of Courtney Love. We plan on checking it out asap.

THE DOPENESS OF DETROIT PART 3: CORKTOWN
When you hear of Corktown, it doesn’t exactly sound like the name of a neighborhood that you’ll find resting in the heart of Detroit. Corktown is Detroit’s oldest neighborhood and is currently experiencing a huge wave of newcomers! The houses still standing in Corktown have such an amazing architecture - very reminiscent of the Victorian era. Although it is a smaller town, the nightlife in Corktown is just as thriving as the nightlife in a huge city. You’ll find a host of bars, restaurants, dance halls and music halls for legit entertainment. Along with the amazing food and entertainment in Corktown, it is also home of the historical Home & Garden Tour. The Home & Garden Tour is held every first Saturday of June. During this tour, guests are allowed to cool out and enjoy the scenery of some of the lushest landscapes in the area. Amazing food, amazing landscape, amazing architecture, amazing bars…need we say more? Sounds like a pretty dope time to us. If you’re ever nearby, stop in Corktown for good eats and a few amazing visual stimulators!

Lisa Eisner – Psychonaut Dome
We are obsessed with Lisa Eisner’s dome entitled “Psychonaut” (a Greek word meaning “sailor of the mind”). Previously an editor at Mademoiselle and Vogue, Lisa now focuses on natural photography. Her “Psychonaut” dome is like going inside of a kaleidoscope filled with sneak peeks of nature. We would love to have a slumber party in here!
“Excellence is my presence. Never tense, never hesitant.”
Happy Birthday to Christopher Wallace aka Biggie Smalls aka Notorious BIG.
Today would have been his 40th.

We love King Krule (aka Archy Marshall), formally known as Zoo Kid. No matter what you call him, he is pretty much the coolest 16 year old we have ever heard of. He records all of his songs in his bedroom and performs after school, on weekends and holidays. Talk about productive!
Pills made from Jell-O? Now, this is something we could get into. We recently stumbled upon a few artists that work in gelatin and, we must admit, we are pretty obsessed. There’s nothing like art you can taste!
Beach House is definitely one of our fave bands. We can’t get enough of “Lazuli”, the latest track off of their new album, Bloom. This is sure to be one of our summer jams.
Through The Whiskey Barrel is a film about surfing in Scotland (yes, there is surfing in Scotland). It’s no secret we love whiskey and also enjoy watching surfers. We can’t wait to pour a glass and watch this film.
